At St. Mary School, we believe it is vital to foster an awareness of the different vocations in the Church and to give students an opportunity to learn more about the various paths to which God might be calling them.
We celebrate a special Vocations Awareness Day once a year. Following Mass, the students have the opportunity to hear a married couple, a priest and a nun discuss their particular vocations and share their stories. The students also hear from a high school student who shares his or her process of discernment.
St. Mary sixth graders attend FOCUS 11, an Archdiocesan program which gives 11-year-olds the opportunity to learn about the beauty of vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life. During this three-day conference, our students have the opportunity to talk with men and women from religious communities all over the country.
